Announced: Plug-in for Exchange backups on Windows Server 2008

Posted by Bharat Suneja at 11:40 AM
Windows Server 2008's new Windows Server Backup utility, the replacement for NTBackup, doesn't do Exchange backups out of the box.

I'm in Scott Schnoll's session where he just announced a new Microsoft plug-in that will do Exchange VSS backups. The tool will be released this summer.

More notes from this excellent session soon!

Was this the "major announcement" Scott mentioned on his blog?

Windows backup prior to this could not do VSS out of the box, streaming was all there was. This is VSS, this is new so I will jump up and down that we have a new tool to use if we wish.

Summer is half way and I'm jumping for Exchange 2007 VSS support in Windows Backup.

Any news on this one? Release date?

I'm looking forward to this update.
