Beta 2 is here!

Exchange Server 2007 Beta 2 has been posted on microsoft.com for public download. You can download it from here.

Here’s what you’ll need to set up Beta 2:

1. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1: x86
1. Dot Net Framework 2.0: Download x86 x64
2. Windows PowerShell (aka “Monad”): x86 x64
3. Microsoft Management Console (MMC) 3.0: x86 x64

Note: If you don’t have the above installed, the (GUI) setup will link to these.

System Requirements for Beta 2:
CPU: at least Pentium 800 Mhz (32-bit). For 64-bit intsallations, a processor that supports either Intel EM64T (most Xeons, Pentium D) or AMD64.
RAM: 1 Gig + 7 Mb per user minimum, 2 Gigs + 10 Mb per user recommended.
Free drive space: At least 1.2 Gb on disk where Exchange binaries are installed, 200 Mb on System drive
*Drives need to be formatted with NTFS

I’ve been running this and some previous builds in test environments with as little as 256 Mb. .. a little sluggish with that little perhaps because it’s a virtual environment, but with 512 Mb. you will find the performance acceptable in your lab.. would recommend reading the note regarding memory requirements on the System Requirements page linked above.
