DST 2007: Updating Front-End Servers

by Bharat Suneja

Another common question related to the DST updating process: do I need to do anything on my Front-End Exchange servers?

Front-End servers do need the Feb. 2007 Cumulative Time Zone Update (KB 931836), and the Exchange CDO patch (KB 926666 for Exchange Server 2003 SP2, KB 931978 for Exchange Server 2003 SP1).

When do we need to apply these? Preferably at the same time as the Back-End servers (during a scheduled maintenance window, the exact order shouldn’t matter as much. Normally you apply any service packs or hotfixes to Front-End servers first).

Actual rebasing tools to modify Calendar items are run against mailboxes, so these can be said to be running against Back-End servers.
