Exchange Server 2003 SP2 to ship soon!

by Bharat Suneja

Just back from TechEd in Orlando, and I’m going to try to make up for the slack in posting over the past few weeks.

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 will ship soon.
Notable:
1. Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition store limit raised to 75 Gigs! In addition to the Standard Edition’s ability to be a Front-End server (2003 only), this makes Enterprise Edition unnecessary except 1) If you need a single store over 75 Gigs 2) You need more than one stores / storage groups and 3) If you’re setting up a High-Availability cluster using Microsoft Cluster Service.
2. SenderID support (and updated Intelligent Message Filter or IMF)
3. Ability to enforce Cached Mode Outlook clients
4. New OAB (Offline Address Book) format

From the Exchange 12 & 13 Roadmap presentation at TechEd:
1. Public Folders will be gone!
2. Revamped calendaring
3. Unified messaging: addition of vmail & fax functionality
